These a hard and sad times to begin with. It hurts to see this place go due to Covid-19. Thank you for all the memories. First it was Oiwake and now Ebisu. What's the point to go to Little Tokyo anymore? This place has been in my rotation for years. Amazing takoyaki, chx nanban, sukiyaki, and udon. You can never forget the ice cold mugs and early 00's jpop hits. Great staff and food. You will be truly missed.
One of our favorites in Little Tokyo: SO SAD they're closing on 12/30! Come and order while you can: it's one of the few places you'll find chawan-mushi, red miso katsu, tuna natto, and many options beyond the usual teriyaki-tempura-california roll menu. Currently takeout only but just as delicious. This was our go-to for visitors to LT as well as ourselves and we will miss them so much :'(
A very well rounded Japanese eatery located in little Tokyo. If you're looking to build a solid foundation in your gut for a night out with friends this is a good place to start, and for not much $$ as well, which is always a good thing. Very good izakaya goodies, along with you're typical sushi menu. Cold beer, warm sake, salty little plates of goodies, all served up pretty cheap. Can't ask for much more than that, 4 solid stars.
When I walked in I was put at ease by the warm, relaxed atmosphere and spacious area with comfy booths. The menu selection is huge; one of the biggest I've ever seen. I decided on the Salmon Ikura bowl(my favorite sushi and there was alot of fresh salmon eggs), snow crab nigiri(yummy), pomegranate sour($5 happy hour price and worth double), shrimp/Vegetable tempura(delicious). Even the boiled peanuts were awesome. Service was exceptional-very polite & professional. I also found out Ebisu is the name of a Japanese religious deity as well as referring to good luck from the informative waiter. Ebisu is now one of my top choices for Japanese in Little Tokyo as well as the entire city of LA.
Breaks my heart. We left LA together because of COVID-19. I will miss the dinners, the same crew of staff always saying hello, the times with my cousin, the ex, and that one time...the iced cold biru and takoyaki, the rolls on rolls diner sushi, the music,...I'mma miss all of you. Damn it Ebisu I'll miss you. I found this out the hard way...through someone else while we were reminiscing up in the yay. Dedicated to you: Pete Rock and CL Smooth: T.R.O.Y 44ever.
